Dodo of the Caucus Race

excerpt from a website:

In the year 1598 AD, Portuguese sailors landing on the shores of the island of Mauritius discovered a previously unknown species of bird, the Dodo. Having been isolated by its island location from contact with humanity, the dodo greeted the new visitors with a child-like innocence. The sailors mistook the gentle spirit of the dodo, and its lack of fear of the new predators, as stupidity. They dubbed the bird "dodo" (meaning something similar to a simpleton in the Portuguese tongue). Many dodo were killed by the human visitors, and those that survived man had to face the introduced animals. Dogs and pigs soon became feral when introduced to the Mauritian eco-system. By the year 1681, the last dodo had died, and the world was left worse with its passing.

i wonder would there be excitement if suddenly a dodo showed up after such a long presumed extinction?

Tora datang lagi dengan permainan hidung badut

Badut, badut, ke mari sebentar.
Kau nampak si sufi yang sedang menari?

Pergi tolak dia, biar jatuh tersungkur
Biar hidungnya penyek macam babi

Kemudian cabut hidung merahmu

that i would be good to be bad

a dose of crazy logic:

If, in heaven we would be granted anything that we wished for,

Would it be theologically correct for us to be good in this lifetime so that in the afterlife we could commit sin?

on how to take compliments

I find many people do not take compliments very well. In return of a compliment, they would always point out a larger flaw on their part (to display 'humbleness'), or express skepticism to the conveyor of the compliment ("ahhh... what an awfully sweet talker you are..."). I disagree with this form of compliment taking.

Hence, whenever that mamat James Blunt comes on the radio singing that one particular song, I'm like,

"Thank you, thank you, thank you"

hahahahhaha

Raya!!!

raya....

brings different meaning to different people.
this year raya for me is like a semester break. one week of rest. and tomorrow, i will be back at work. i don't know what prompts me to write at such a late hour like this, i have just arrived from kampong after toiling through hideous traffic jam- on the highway. maybe the ting-tong ness.

cuti cuti like this gave me ample time to reflect. too much time i guess.

in the course of my friendship with friends i'm- always melukut di tepi gantang. always datang lambat. always whining. always dependant. always what have you.

(i sometimes hate myself for it) but i love everybody.

so this raya,

i am sorry friends,

for not being as posh as Bettina Chu

i am sorry for not being as technically efficient as Jasnita Khor

i am sorry i am not a bimbo like Wardina

i am sorry i am not as fashionable as Mel Gibson

i am sorry i am not as vocally talented as Zaiton Sameon

i am sorry i am not an event manager like Shida Puki

i am sorry i am not as funny as Peter & the Wolf

i am sorry i cannot laugh like a peacock like the Attorney General's pet

i am sorry i am not the centre of the universe like Khatijah Ibrahim.

i am deeply, deeply sorry.

Selamat Hari Raya. Maaf Zahir Batin.
