poem: Pekan
another Malay poem in haiku-like format. written in Pekan during my measured drawing about 5 years ago. we were having an evening stroll near a river adjacent to a royal resthouse.
Pekan
Si dayang-dayang
ke sungai mandi petang
Tertawa riang.

Define 'haiku'?
And, how does this one pass as a poem?
It rhymes, yes, but the rest is, erm...not very Malay-poem-like.
poem is sajak. it doesn't have to rhyme actually. pantun has to rhyme.
haiku is japanese poetry. it is unique because the format is based on the count of syllables. like 5-7-5. short but full of impact. (an example perhaps, of japanese minimalistic tendecies)
but in the case here, i disregard the syllable count. but the format is akin to a haiku. that's why i said 'haiku-like'. because i don't want it to be regarded as a haiku and be condemned by purists.
y dont u try google it up for more info on haiku?
happy new year beb!
Erm, ok ok, I get it. Cool it, dude..
babe, i wasn't annoyed. just trying to be helpful. you make it as if i was irritated or something.
